about

Originally released August 11, 2001.

In the summer of 2001, an 18-year-old singer-songwriter graduated from high school and became a camp counselor. One of his co-counselors recognized his talent, and asked to record his original music. These 13 songs were, at the time, his best original work. Since this album, which was originally called "Truckstop Payphone," that young man has proceeded to found a national act called Union Pulse, released 5 albums and 2 E.P.s (plus a greatest hits / decade in review collection) and tour the entire country for years. Now with two new solo albums recorded since parting ways with Union Pulse, a weathered but bright eyed James Tristan Redding is making all of his oldest recordings available for anyone who would like to hear how he started out.

lyrics

When all the world has locked you out
And you fall to lying low
I love the loneliness inside every shout
Where living life becomes a show

I'm too strong to die in an instant
But I would go without a fear
So when I'd gone you'd feel my heart beating still
And shed for me a single tear

Freedom at the cost of friends and kin
Never shall I lose, so let's begin
Leave alone the covenant you hold deep within
And I shall open you to sin

Follow my dancing erratic as it may appear
Lie to me dying erotic as I draw you near
Watch me now poised and artistically feeding on fear
Nuclear minds go ballistic to reach the frontier
