about

Originally released August 11, 2001.

In the summer of 2001, an 18-year-old singer-songwriter graduated from high school and became a camp counselor. One of his co-counselors recognized his talent, and asked to record his original music. These 13 songs were, at the time, his best original work. Since this album, which was originally called "Truckstop Payphone," that young man has proceeded to found a national act called Union Pulse, released 5 albums and 2 E.P.s (plus a greatest hits / decade in review collection) and tour the entire country for years. Now with two new solo albums recorded since parting ways with Union Pulse, a weathered but bright eyed James Tristan Redding is making all of his oldest recordings available for anyone who would like to hear how he started out.

lyrics

She rides a horse the color of the skies (after a storm)
Reflecting back and shining off her eyes
She rides the wings of angels she can't love
They fly her home, shining from above

She rides alone, shining through the blue
Reflecting on the only thing that's true
She rides reflections of herself when she can see
And when she's blind, well then she rides with me

Lonely and full of light
Sadly it's how I feel
Only shed tears tonight
Gladly begin to heal

If I should wake before I die please take my love from thee
My silver faith to fall or fly, through golden eyes I see
Waltzing through the forest greens, dead and yet alive
Directions all relation leans, in love I shall now strive

Lonely and full of light
Sadly it's how I feel
Only shed tears tonight
Gladly begin to heal

Walk with me to the ends of the earth
Talk with me so I know of my birth
Glide with me through the sky like a dove
Ride with me to the sunset above

So shall we part as lovers do, or shall we talk some more
Through the rain I see the sun shining through the door
Heaven holds me in her heart, hoping she will stay
And through her light I see my love as she rides away
