lyrics

Last time I saw my brother he was kneeling at the grave
Planting flowers for our mother before he turned and walked away
Casting midnight shadows on the dirt he's steppin' in
Didn't know where he was going but I knew where he had been

Drivin' somethin' grandpa bought in 1967
My sweat and tears my teenage years are in that old black Chevy
I know if dad were here today he'd give that car to me
The only thing I wanted but my brother got the keys

For a little while now this house don't feel like home
No one's planting flowers now that everybody's gone
New roof on this garage still got plenty to repair
Looks pretty good from the outside but ain't no treasure under there

This faded blue umbrella don't help much in a storm
But a little water on my cheeks never held me back before
Still prayin' for something I may never understand
Walkin' in the rain with a flower in my hand

For a little while now this house don't feel like home
No one's planting flowers now that everybody's gone
New roof on this garage still got plenty to repair
Looks pretty good from the outside but ain't no treasure under there

Got an unexpected call the other day
Brother left that car to me the night he passed away
As I was drivin' back with an empty shotgun seat
Kinda' wished that he was sittin' next to me

For a little while now this house don't feel like home
No one's planting flowers now that everybody's gone
New roof on this garage still got plenty to repair
Looks pretty good from the outside but ain't no treasure under there
Looks pretty good from the outside still no treasure under there
