Week 25b - On The Morning I Was Saved (210619)

from Song A Week, Volume 6 by James Tristan Redding

/

lyrics

On the morning I was saved the curtains opened wide
Heard a voice I did not understand and water poured down from the sky
Rivers overtook the forest cities crumbled to the sea
Dropped the anchor I carried all these years watched it fall away from me

With the sound of a gunshot and the flash of a bomb
In the blink of an eye like the calm before the storm
Day became night and night turned into day
That was how it happened on the morning I was saved

On the morning I was saved the earth shook like a drum
Watched my world spinnin' upside down and saw the axis overcome
Pushed the engine to the limit pulled the scales from these eyes
Threw my hands up surrendered then and there and I was busted open wide

With the sound of a gunshot and the flash of a bomb
In the blink of an eye like the calm before the storm
Day became night and night turned into day
That's just how it happened on the morning I was saved
