Week 38 - February Comes Around Again (210921)

from Song A Week, Volume 6 by James Tristan Redding

/

lyrics

Of all the senses none like the nose
For calling memories to mind
In floats a perfume thin as a ghost
The past is present one more time

Of all the measures of any year
There is a month like nothing else
Catches the iris tongue and the ears
But mostly it's the smell

The air in February
Is crisp as it is heavy
A promise of tomorrow in the wind

Juniper and jasmine
Announce each season passing
Until February comes around again

Across the surface a sheet of glass
Where the winter moonlight shines
The scent is dancing the frozen dance
Of another valentine
