240106: I Should "No"

from Leap Songs, Part 3 by James Tristan Redding

/

lyrics

What I don't "no" can hurt me
And I don't "no" enough
I can't afford to worry
About the ones who "no" too much

You know no man is an island
No matter how it seems
"Yes" is loud "no" is silent
Maybe you know what I mean

I know good fences make good neighbors
And I know that talk is cheap
I know I ain't no one's savior
And I know that's bittersweet
I know "yes" can sound like victory
Like a world of possibility
But "yes" can also leave you tired and broke
Take my word I should "no"

"No" is like a stop sign
And "yes" a light that's green
We all take our turn on both sides
There ain't much in between

I don't "no" you, you don't "no" me
And most folks never will
When you "no", some nights are lonely
Sometimes "yes" is sadder still
