240107: Wherever Gone Is

from Leap Songs, Part 3 by James Tristan Redding

/

lyrics

Where did all our good times go
Are they underneath the snow
Or trying to swim with the dolphins out off the coast
Sinking 20,000 feet below

Where have all our kisses gone
Or the lips they fell upon
The last time I tasted any it's been so long
Have they faded with the dawn

There's a difference dear between sweet and honest
One feels good and one breaks its promise
It's a little late now to be melodramatic or modest

So I'm clearing these skeletons out of my closet
Taking your photograph out of my pocket
And I'm sending it all far away strapped tight to a rocket

Wherever gone is

Have we buried the love we made
Six feet down in the cool damp shade
Is there a little white cross standing where it lays
While a goodbye chorus plays
