240110: Greatest Nation

from Leap Songs, Part 3 by James Tristan Redding

/

lyrics

Some say America is the greatest nation
But a man at the Rescue Mission told me it's donation
He laughed a little then retreated to resignation
I was left wandering around in imagination

Some are born stateside some in other nations
And at the border some will face recrimination
In some circles they discuss extermination
I gotta' tell you I think that's an abomination

Some got red hats that boast of this great nation
And some got blue hats to the red ones' consternation
My hat is black and I guess my inclination
A little more teamwork and a lot less alienation

Some are all about control and domination
You either think like them or face their condemnation
No discussion around vaccination or impregnation
I respond with a combination of fascination and profanation
