240210: Every Road We Walk

from Leap Songs, Part 4 by James Tristan Redding

/

lyrics

I've seen this road before
The same old houses up the street
Shoes I wear are getting worn
Know all the cracks in the concrete

Feels like nothing ever changes
Like a song playing on repeat
See the same old names and faces
Anywhere I go they follow me

Just want to see the world
To find someplace I've never been
But I keep walking circles
Wind up right back here again

However far I wander
Shangri-La to Timbuk Three
For every road we walk
There's two more we never see

And the night is like a highway
That can take me far away
I'm right back in the driveway
Come the light of day

For all the destinations
Anywhere but here
By the end of every pavement
They all but disappear
